Daily Devotion in Psalm 150

Daily Nugget:
With all six verses of Psalm 150 praising God, it is a wonderful song to conclude the Book of Psalms. It is a reminder that we can praise Him with so many means.

We can praise God with music (Psalm 150:3-6). However, verse six states that any breathing creature should also praise Him. This could include animals, reptiles, and fish.
“Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.” Psalm 150:6

Since we do not know the minds of God’s other creatures, how do we not know that they also have an understanding that there is something greater than they to whom they owe their gratitude?

Could it be that my Labrador, happily running among the snowflakes, is grateful in her own way for the crisp, clear day that the Lord has given her? Perhaps the trumpeting call of an elephant in the early morning is not just summoning his companions but is acknowledging his thankfulness for the new day. Maybe even the whip-poor-will's night song is sharing his contentment for the day God let him have.

Far-fetched? Perhaps, but according to the Bible, several things that one would never imagine could talk, could or did, if God willed it.

The Bible says that a stone heard God’s spoken words, and it will be a witness to what God’s people promised Him.
“And Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God, and took a great stone, and set it up there under an oak, that was by the sanctuary of the LORD. 27 And Joshua said unto all the people, Behold, this stone shall be a witness unto us; for it hath heard all the words of the LORD which he spake unto us: it shall be therefore a witness unto you, lest ye deny your God.” Joshua 24:26-27
The Bible says rocks could talk.
“And some of the Pharisees from among the multitude said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. 40 And he answered and said unto them, I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.” Luke 19:39-40
“For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it.” Hab. 2:11

The Bible says that God heard the blood shed by murder cry out from the Earth.
“And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.” Gen. 4:10
The Bible says that Balaam’s donkey talked.
“And the LORD opened the mouth of the ass, and she said unto Balaam, What have I done unto thee, that thou hast smitten me these three times? 29 And Balaam said unto the ass, Because thou hast mocked me: I would there were a sword in mine hand, for now would I kill thee.” Num. 22:28-29

God created this wonderful world for us to enjoy and is a constant help. There is nothing our Maker cannot do.

We should be grateful and praise Him often for what He has done. Thank Him with any means possible.

1 Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

3 Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.
4 Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.
5 Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.
6 Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.
