Daily Devotion of Psalm 121

Daily Nugget:
“A Song of degrees. I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.” Psalm 121:1

As many pilgrimaged to the Temple in Jerusalem, they knew they were nearing their destination when they saw the many hills surrounding the place of worship. However, it was not the hills that helped them in their time of need (Psalm 121:1).  It was God on the other side of the hilly terrain that was their benefactor.  It was He they were eager to be near.  It was the great God and Creator who was their help.
“My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.” Psalm 121:2

God had proven Himself worthy to repeatedly relied upon. They experienced that God:

 

The security that God gave Israel often made them confident.  Today’s Christians can also realize the same assurance.  God promised never to leave or forsake His own.  If you are His own, you can rest knowing that you are safe in His hands.
“Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.” Heb. 13:5

3 He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber.
4 Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.
5 The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand.
6 The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
7 The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul.
8 The LORD shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even for evermore.
